Match Report: Taunton Tigers Mens Team — 9 October 2010

Taunton Tigers vs Chichester Thunder

Taunton Tigers first league game of the season saw them playing away to the favourites for the Division 4 title, Chichester Thunder.

Tigers started strongly but, against a strong, experienced team, they struggled to score inside. With the referees providing little protection against the home side's aggressive style of play, Taunton were largely limited to scoring with outside shots.

Half–time saw them down by just 4 points and with everything to play for. The second half started with both teams trading baskets, but Thunder's physical presence began to tell and they pulled away to a 14 point lead with 3 minutes to play.

Taunton refused to give up and, under the captaincy of Adam Rickwood, fought back strongly to reduce the lead to only 3 points. But chasing the game and in foul trouble time ran out on them.

Coach, Gary Carter was quick to praise Kev Anderson and Mike Sebire

“They put in exceptional performances against much larger opponents today. Even though we lost I think we can take great encouragement from this close contest.”

Final Score: Taunton Tigers 70 – 77 Chichester Thunder
