Match Report: Taunton Tigers Under 16 Mens Team — 11 October 2008

Taunton Tigers vs Plymouth Marjon Cannons

The Tigers U16's will take away some harsh important lessons from their game against Plymouth Marjon Cannons. From the very start the Tigers juniors never looked like they would put themselves in a position to win.

The 1st quarter was an extremely scrappy affair with both teams missing easy scoring opportunities and the home side only scoring 4 points in the whole quarter. The 2nd period went much the same way with the Cannons stepping up their intensity on defence which rattled the Tigers. For the majority of the half it was the Cannons team who were first to every dead ball and crashed the boards much harder than a lacklustre Tigers outfit.

It wasn't until the 4th quarter that the team started to act like Tigers players, upping their intensity at both ends of the floor. Through some strong defence Tigers were able to force the Cannons team into making mistakes but failing to capitalise on the resulting offensive opportunities were to prove costly.

The coaches and supporters will take heart with how the team finished the game, but credit must go to the Cannons team who played well together on the day. The team will not dwell on this result for long, training will be tough during the week and with a few players back from injury and illness the competition for places for what is now a big game against Torbay Tigers will be intense.

Final Score: Taunton Tigers 33 – 40 Plymouth Marjon Cannons
