Match Report: Taunton Tigers Under 16 Mens Team — 13 January 2007

Taunton Tigers vs Bristol Academy

Taunton Tigers U16 Boys increased their league winning streak to nine games, leaving them four points clear at the top of the South West Conference League. This was another convincing win from the ever improving young Tigers.

Tigers did not really get going until the last two minutes of the first quarter with the team turning up the level of intensity and scoring 8 points in two minutes.

The game was another great opportunity for the bench players to gain yet more valuable minutes especially with the next days quarter final cup match on everyones minds. Pip Anderson yet again showed his athletic ability; Anderson went onto to score 13 points. George Scarborough, Ed Surtees, and Jack Murphy came on to show why next year they are going to be a force in this age group, their improvements defensively have impressed Coaches Carter and Scarborough. Tigers went in at half time leading 43 – 22.

The third quarter contained some of the best defensive team defence the team had played all season, led by Joe Randall, whose all round game will be valuable come the really big play off games. Scarborough and Randall delighted the Wellsprings crowd with a highlight fast break and finish which ESPN would have been proud of!

The intensity and discipline tailed off in the fourth quarter, this has to improve soon, otherwise the team may struggle in future games. Special mention to George Freeman and Ed Mortimer whose offensive games are really starting come together, and to Ricky Richards who has really settled in well within the team and is improving game by game.

Final Score: Taunton Tigers 76 – 49 Bristol Academy
