Taunton Tigers U18 men met, this Saturday, Gloucester Trailblazers at Wellsprings Leisure Centre. Gloucester came with 11 players and by all account should have had five players fouled out by half time were it not for the magnanimity of the referees.
Anyone can have a bad day at the office but to have two referees having this problem in the same game must be a rarity. The game could have gone out of control but for the fact that the Tigers are a disciplined unit. They were always in front from the tip-off and therefore shrugged off the needless fouls, reaching, pushing. Even at rugby a high tackle is a foul worthy of the sin bin. Of course you have to see it which brings me back to referees…
Adam Rickwood, Jordan Seeley, Craig Loveday, Tom Rowley and Dan Farrow were the main scorers on the day. Anyone on the team, in fact, could have scored at will such was the difference in skills and stamina shown by the Tigers.
