Tigers picked up their first league win of the season with an impressive performance on Saturday against a previously unbeaten Reading Rockets side.
Taunton had lost to the same team just 3 weeks ago, so they knew that they would be in for a tough clash. Things weren't made any easier by the fact that captain, Adam Rickwood was unavailable for the game, and they got even worse when one of the keys to their inside game, Mike Sebire, was injured in the warm up.
Despite all this, Tigers showed great character and led the match from start to finish. They never held a huge lead, but they steadily built their advantage as the match progressed. Dan Howe had a superb game on offence. Benefitting from a hugely improved team effort on the fast-break, he led all scorers in the game with 26 points.
Taunton's all round shooting game was also much more effective than in recent weeks. 9 of 17 3-point attempts were successful and they converted 73% of their free-throw opportunities.
Coach, Gary Carter, was delighted with the evening's work,
“This was a really pleasing win against a well-coached and disciplined Reading outfit. Credit to the whole team for that performance — it was a massively improved performance compared to the last few games. Everyone contributed in one way or another. Hopefully, this will kick-start our season.”
