Tigers Head Coach Ronnie Heath was in buoyant mood despite losing yet another close game in EBL Division 1 away to Derby last weekend.
“I really feel we have turned the corner. Our energy levels are back up in training and in game situations. The lovely thing about this game is that you can be without our top four scorers from the start of the season and still score 102 points.”
Heath refused to blame the 34 – 17 foul count against them as the reason for losing the game. Despite the fact that Tigers had most shots near the basket it was Derby who shot 51 shots form the foul-line.
“The charging foul against Adam Rickwood on Simon Spencer was hard to take, given Adam (26 Points) was our best player and Simon instead would have left the game at that stage. But I told Adam and the rest of the team that you have to earn those calls with consistently good performances. That's the way it is in all sports.”
Team Manager Paul Carter was convinced the team spirit had returned for the luckless Tigers,
“We have had to deal with so much this year but the boys really pulled together and looked after each other this weekend.”
Carter believes that the foundation is now in place for the second half of the season where Taunton will play 6 of their 9 games in front of their fantastic support at Wellsprings Leisure Centre.
Supporters are reminded that the London Leopards game has been postponed this weekend due to the Leopards progressing to the Nat Trophy semi-final. It will played instead on Sunday 22nd Feb.
