Match Report: Taunton Tigers Mens Team — 16 January 2010

Taunton Tigers vs Plymouth Marjon II

Tigers men's second team enjoyed a very convincing home win against Marjon. They got off to a quick start in the first period by the end of which they had established an 18 – 9 advantage. Both sides found it easier to score in the second quarter, but it ended with Taunton's 9 point lead intact at 42 – 33.

The home side reasserted its defensive dominance in the third quarter, restricting Plymouth to only 10 points and easing out to a 15 point advantage. Defensive effort was again the key in the final period and any hopes Marjon may have had of staging a recovery were dashed as they netted only 9 points.

This was Sam Hardy's final appearance for the Tigers as he is now taking some time to travel. He'll be sorely missed on this performance.

Coach, Gary Carter was pleased that his team had managed to perform so well after the Christmas break,

“We looked a bit rusty in the first half, but that was out of the system by the second and we had a much better rhythm. We can now push on for the rest of the season, starting next week with a massive home game against Bath.”

Final Score: Taunton Tigers 80 – 51 Plymouth Marjon II
